Almost a year ago Pryor’s daughter Lily was dragged into the woods by a wolf.  A daughter pulled from her father by something of fairytales and nightmares.

Every day since that fateful day Pryor turns into a shell of the man he used to be waiting for a glimpse of his daughter again who he swears is a white wolf that skirts the property.  .

Pryor meets Ned the town silversmith once he decides to have something made to remember his daughter by.  The attraction is instant and Ned soon finds himself pulled into Pryors world and witnessing a miracle of fairytales come to life.

The story is amazing; you can instantly feel the desperation and pain of losing a child.  The character development was flawless.  I was drawn into each page and witnessed the story come to life.  My heart hurt for Pryor as a parent and I wished along with Ned that Lily would come home to stay to heal his man completely.

In the line of duty, decisions that will change your life forever are made in a split-second. Nobody knows that better than Officer Michael Carmac, whose fatal split-second decision haunts his days. Tormented by guilt, Michael seeks solace in a bottle and the friendship he has with his partner, Officer Bertram Angel. But the more he leans on Angel for support, the more Michael discovers a longing that he’s kept hidden for too long. Can Angel help ease the pain of guilt or will Michael’s hidden desires be the end of their friendship?

If you want to read a nice little story about two men falling in love and living happily ever after, don’t buy this book!

Of course, there’s a love story, but it’s not nice and simple. This is Michael’s story, a cop who’s dealing with an “incident” that happened during the line of duty. He’s tortured with images and smells from that past and struggles to get his life back in line. He sees in his partner his salvation to the brink of obsession.

He’ll have to find what he’s looking for when if he can accept what he considers his “fault” in the arms of Angel. There are no cutesy feelings here; but a raw and brutal situation he has to overcome.

I really liked this story. Xavier Axelson is showing us what happens “behind the scene”, the emotions a human being is dealing with when he feels guilty and furious at the same time. I highly recommend this book.
